Debt Finance Raising
The raising of the debt finance component of the total project cost for a hotel development in Africa often relies heavily on the experience of the debt finance broker, as well as the strength of the relationship between this broker and the various lending institutions that lend in the hotel space in Africa. HTI Consulting has spent a number of years developing strong working relationships with both the local commercial banks in Africa, as well as with the Development Finance Institutions (DFI’s) that operate from within Africa, Europe, and the USA. It is this range of experience and necessary relationship strength that places HTI Consulting in an ideal position to represent and assist investors and developers who require debt finance for their hotel developments.
This is a unique service that HTI Consulting offers its clients. In situations of raising debt finance for hotel developments in Africa, it is often the case that either the lender does not fully understand the hotel market, or the investor does not fully understand the debt element, or both. This is where HTI Consulting’s competitive advantage of understanding the details of all of these aspects (and within the African context) becomes very necessary.
Over the last 2 years HTI Consulting has raised in the region of $100m in debt finance, notably for the following hotel projects: Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko in Sierra Leone; Four Points by Sheraton in Lagos, and the Radisson Blu in Lome’. HTI Consulting is currently working on a number of other debt finance raising projects in Eastern and Southern Africa.
